Solidway v0.1.0 is released under AGPL-3.0; source and releases are on GitHub. This documentation is being rewritten against the release — pages outside Quick start and Reference still describe planned behaviour. The current reference lives in docs/getting-started.md and docs/architecture.md in the repository.
Installation
Download the Linux package or the desktop app, and start the gateway.
Solidway installs from a package — there is nothing to build.
Linux server
Download the deb or rpm for your distribution from
Releases and install it:
sudo apt install ./solidway_<version>-1_amd64.deb
# or: sudo dnf install ./solidway-<version>-1.x86_64.rpm
sudo systemctl enable --now solidway
The package installs /usr/bin/solidway, a systemd unit, a solidway system user and
/var/lib/solidway as the data root. Ports 80/443 are granted through
CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE, so built-in HTTPS works without running as root.
Desktop app
Releases also publish a desktop application for Linux, Windows and macOS
(solidway-app_<version>_<arch>). Each installer ships the gateway binary, so one install
is enough; there is no separate server package to add.
The macOS build is self-signed and not notarized, and Windows builds are unsigned — expect a first-launch prompt from Gatekeeper or SmartScreen.
First start
On first start Solidway creates the data directory, prints a one-time bootstrap token to
stdout and listens on 127.0.0.1:6565:
solidway: listening addr=127.0.0.1:6565
solidway: bootstrap token=<token> url=http://127.0.0.1:6565/bootstrap#<token>
For the Linux package the same message is in journalctl -u solidway. Open the URL, set
the admin password, then continue with Your first request.
If the download page is not up yet
Ask for the package (or a local copy) instead of building from source — this site will link to the downloads once they are published.
